Please join us on Friday for the opening of I am living all over you. The exhibition features new works by Claudia del Fierro, George Henry Longly and Hanna Schwarz, three current artists-in-residence atthe Künstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral. It is organized by Wendy Vogel, Balmoral’s current curator-inresidence.
I am living all over you is on view in Balmoral’s satellite space Laden N° 5.

I am living all over you presents new work by three artists currently in residence at the Kuenstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral. A reversal of indie rock band Dinosaur Jr.’s 1987 album title You’re Living All Over Me, the phrase connotes a perverse biopolitics (referring to Foucault’s notion of biopouvoir, the practice of politics on an individual and his body). The “you” in the title remains unfixed in English as a singular or plural subject. “Living” becomes equally open to interpretation, as either the bare fact of existence or the occupation of a domicile. In this sense, I am living all over you conjures associations from the constructed edginess of fashion, hospitality and lifestyle advertising about the romance of everyday life.

The works in this show explore the boundary between life and representations of lifestyles.“Lifestyle” is a sociological concept describing a set of attitudes and behaviors that forge a sense of self. These behaviors include the creation — and consumption — of cultural symbols that resonate with personal identity. As such, the creation of “lifestyle” products can be considered both an aesthetic and commercial mission.

The exhibition runs until September 26, 2011, and is open daily form 12 p. m. to 6 p. m.
An accompanying publication will be launched on September 11, 2011 at 12 p. m.
